Alfonso Jose Coronel is Production Designer and Art director working across film and fashion editorial. With a Master’s in Production Design for Screen from the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA) and a Bachelor of Creative Arts (Screen) from Flinders University, Alfonso brings both conceptual clarity and hands-on craft to his work.
His design for the web series Descent and art direction for independent feature films, Yesterday Island and Sweet Milk Lake—reflect his commitment to building visual worlds that serve the emotional core of a story.
Since 2015, he has worked across short films, music videos, and fashion editorials, collaborating with creatives to develop tactile, stylised spaces that feel both cinematic and grounded. His practice blends visual storytelling, spatial design, and a bit of controlled chaos—always with an eye toward texture, tone, and a deeper sense of place. Whether creating lived-in worlds or surreal dreamscapes, Alfonso approaches each project with curiosity, care, and a touch of play.
Alfonso is currently living in Adelaide and is flexible to travel interstate for work.

I think in images, build meaning into materials, and design with a filmmaker’s eye. I’m led by a creative desire to explore and experiment, but I also value precision, purpose, and making things that communicate clearly. I don’t just make things look good — I make them feel right.
